The most opulent set that DOVO has produced in its 117-year history was created in a period of 1.5 years. From the initial idea to the final implementation, there were a large number of failed attempts. The result was worth every single failed attempt.

THE SET

The set consists of the Straight Edge Diamond razor, a brush and a stand that gives both unique pieces a perfect frame. All three components of the set are individual pieces in their execution, which required a large number of meticulous steps to arrive at the final product.

THE MATERIALS

Excellent products require excellent materials. Accordingly, the heart of this masterpiece is the selection of the best materials. The blade is made of RWL-34 stainless powder steel, hardened to 62 HRC (Rockwell Hardness C Scale) after being deep frozen and annealed.

Almost every other component of the knife, the brush and the stand, was made of grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V). Compared to pure titanium, grade 5 has a much higher tensile strength and yield point. Every part, no matter how small, was individually made by hand, right down to the screws. The spacer of the knife as well as the feet of the stand and the transport box are made of preserved mammoth ivory from the last Ice Age. Deep black ebony wood was used both for the tang stand and for the transport box. All elements have been carefully selected to ensure a harmonious blend of functionality and opulence, setting the stage for an exceptional shaving experience.

What really sets this razor apart, however, is the stunning display of 225 brilliant cut diamonds, carefully set in palladium by our expert stone setter. Carefully selected for their exceptional clarity and radiance, these diamonds capture and reflect light in a fascinating way. Each diamond has been carefully placed in an intricate pattern that enhances the razor’s aesthetic and brings a touch of glamor and extravagance to the morning grooming routine.

THE MAKER AND MASTER

Our team has worked several times with the well-known knife maker Petr Hofman. The craftsman based in the Czech Republic is meticulous in his work and has the highest standards for his work. The results of his craftsmanship reflect his attitude.

Together with Petr, the team at DOVO has been creating an object of desire in many iterations over 1.5 years. The goal was clear to everyone from the start: to create a razor that would eclipse anything created before. The goal was exceeded. The few people who have seen The Straight Edge Diamond in person have needed to be reminded that without breathing, they will pass out quickly.

No computer operated machines were involved in the manufacturing process. Everything was done the good old way.

Petr has managed to conjure up a unique piece that leaves a lasting impression on those who see the knife. And that also applies to people who are otherwise not interested in knives or wet shaving. Some things radiate a universal beauty that cannot be ignored.

The Straight Edge Diamond is being offered for €42,655. It is crafted from grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) and set with 225 diamonds (partly set in palladium) over a period of 18 months. The knife is a unique piece and comes with a brush, a stand and an ebony storage box. The certificate for the diamonds is included.
